AUTUMN! HOLIDAYS! EVERYTHING!

'ello dudes. so so so. autumn is on her way. and holidays! and i'm a HOLIDAY GIRL. and an autumn!girl. and really i was just wondering what everyone does to get their pad all autumned up. and such. here's what i do. then tell me what you do.

-put all the summer blankets and stuff up. pull out the autumn-colored quilts/candles/stuff.
-i like the house to smell like cinnamon. and pumpkin. and apples. so i LOVE buying fall candles and goodsmelling things.
-buy PUMPKINS!
-watch halloween movies. but not scary ones, b/c i'm a wuss. i like: hocus pocus, the nightmare before christmas, liberty heights and it's the great pumpkin charlie brown!

ooooh i love summer. but autumn does a great feeling of joy to my heart. i love to have the warm blankets out and about, as well as vanilla, cranberry & almond candles. they smell heavenly.

i also like to buy those mini squash/pumpkins. they're so cute and easy to put on window sills.

and yes, halloween movies are fun. even the scary ones. i love the original halloween movie for it's pure cheesyness. hocus pocus is divine, sarah jessica parker was always my favourite of the witches.

going for walks by the canal (i live in ottawa, canada. we have the most beautiful canal that runs through most of the city and there are always hundreds of beautiful tress that turn fabulous colours in the fall.) is also a good pastime, complete with hot apple cider and Beavertails (bread-like pastry with sugar and cinnamon sprinkled on top!)

ooh. i want a BEAVERTAIL b/c it sounds DIVINE.

and i love hocus pocus. i watch that so much during this time of year. i love sarah jessica and how she says BOYS!!

in autumn, i like to wear my nightmare before christmas watch & i like to put thicker blankets on my bed. i also find that i light more candles & burn incense way more in the autumn.

but i spend september in total AUTUMN DENIAL. it's not until i am in october that i am like OKAY YAY FOR THIS!!! and i pretty much like everything halloween related so we put out candy dishes with halloween candy & buy pumpkind & carve them & just do halloween goodness!

oh, me too! i could watch it over & over & over again. have you seen the corpse bride yet?????

Flannel sheets on the bed and check to make sure the electric blanket is working, get the fall placemats, pumpkins and cornucopia out. Buy gourds and squash. And the best part of all, is making soup, chili and stew...all great comfort foods.

I'm so excited for making autumn wreathes this year with my roommates. (We're thinking something like the ones that are in this month's Shop Etc. on the "Luxe vs. Less" page.) If only it weren't 100+ degrees outside!

yay for fall!!

- buy fresh apple cider at farmer's market
- i love nightmare before christmas and beetlejuice and it's the great pumpkin charlie brown and practical magic
- i still need to get my halloween decorations out of storage and i can't wait!!
- they have this black feather wreath at target that i'm dying to get and there are spendier ones in various colors at zgallerie that are cool too
- i can't wait to cook some casseroles and fall type foods, like butternut squash risotto and salads with cranberries
- i already bought my halloween costume since i slacked last year and didn't end up finding one i liked, plus i ordered the dog a halloween costume too (dogzilla)
